26th & Kostner Park Update- The first phase is complete, but the community’s work of bringing this park to life continues!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 26th & Kostner concept design celebration and to all the neighbors and community partners who helped shape the vision for a new park in La Villita!

What’s next? Here’s where things stand:

Fall 2026: Community Concept Design Complete!
With the first phase of community design completed, the project is moving toward land transfer and future park development.

Early 2027 — Land Transfer
The Chicago Park District has met with representatives from Unilever and the 22nd Ward office to discuss the steps to put the land transfer in motion. The Park District hopes to complete the transfer during the first quarter of 2027.

2027 and Beyond — Building the Future Park
Following the land transfer, the Chicago Park District will work toward the next stages of park planning, fundraising, and eventual development, building on the community’s vision. The construction timeline has not yet been established.

Neighbors are encouraged to join Friends of 26Kostner, the project’s Community Advisory Council, to continue guiding the park’s future, organizing community activities, and keeping La Villita residents involved throughout the process.
