Description:
On June 11, 2026, we shared a concept for the site's initial activation that uses pathways, gathering spaces, and recreation areas to encourage exploration and connect the site to 26th Street. Participants responded positively to the overall vision and provided feedback on future programming opportunities, parking and access needs, and strategies to support long-term stewardship and safety.

Community conversations and online engagement activities demonstrated the importance of ensuring the site is accessible to all. In the previous meeting, a community member shared how vendors are an attraction in Little Village. They bring life and energy to the streets.
Other local projects were brought up as potential collaborations such as CDOT’s current study of the 26th street corridor. We also talked about the 4 main components the community wants to see which are signage, a trail/pathway, a plaza, and an active area such as a pitch.
This session reinforced that the community sees this site as an important asset to the neighborhood.
