6/18/26 - Permanent Park Design Session
Location:
Online
Description:
On June 18th, 2026, we shared a concept for the site's initial activation that uses pathways, gathering spaces, and recreation areas to encourage exploration and connect the site to 26th Street. Participants responded positively to the overall vision and provided feedback on future programming opportunities, parking and access needs, and strategies to support long-term stewardship and safety.

Takeaways:
-
The community was interested in having the larger gathering areas at the center such as the vendor spaces/plaza and the social spaces around the lot. We prioritized experiences, color, and usage so the site could integrate various needs.
Some of the components that will continue to be explored are the site as an extension of 26th, wider/more inviting sidewalks, and inviting ways so the community can navigate the site.
“The inspiration, culture, and identity that we want to represent in the space is including the vendors and having vendors as an attraction, something that the community has pride in”
